Ammar Zoni's lawyer admitted that he was not too satisfied with the judge's verdict of seven months in prison, reduced by the rehabilitation period for his client. Because the verdict did not meet his expectations.
"If it meets our expectations, no, because our hope is for rehabilitation or freedom," said Abdullah Emile Oemar, Ammar Zoni's legal counsel after the trial on Monday (26/9/2023).
Nevertheless, Abdullah Emile stated that he would not appeal the verdict.
"Possibly some of us won't, God willing we won't," he said.
Meanwhile, Ammar Zoni admitted that he didn't mind the verdict. In fact, he felt relieved.
"Alhamdulillah, I feel relieved, because it has been given legally by the judge," said Ammar Zoni after the trial.
Ammar Zoni considered the verdict to be objective. Moreover, the verdict is lighter than the prosecutor's demand for Ammar Zoni to be sentenced to one year in prison.
"The judge saw it from an objective point of view where the prosecutor has demanded one year and it was reduced, so that is one of the things that I am grateful for," he said.
Still according to Ammar Zoni, the verdict is lighter than the prosecutor's demand thanks to the prayers from his family and wife.
"This is all thanks to the prayers of my family and also from my wife," he said.
