The polemic regarding musician royalties questioned by Ari Lasso finally received a direct response from Wahana Musik Indonesia (WAMI). Adi Adrian, the President Director of WAMI, provided clarification regarding the position and duties of the organization.

The man, who is also known as the keyboardist of the band Kla Project, spoke up when met in the Pancoran area of South Jakarta on Tuesday (19/8/2025). He emphasized that WAMI is only carrying out its main duties and functions (tupoksi) in accordance with the mandate of the state.

Adi explained that WAMI acts as a Collective Management Institution (LMK) which has the authority to collect and distribute royalties. This authority, according to him, is clearly regulated in the law.

"The position of WAMI is actually just to carry out our duties, yes. So our duties within this governance hierarchy involve LMK (Collective Management Institution) which is granted authority by the state through Article 89 to collect, gather, and distribute. That is in Article 89," said Adi Adrian.

Furthermore, he emphasized that WAMI works as a daily executor that adheres to the rules established by the government. Therefore, his party focuses on improving the royalty management system to make it better in the future.

"So, recently, WAMI's position was as the officer. The term at that time was daily executor. So we just did what our duties called for," he continued.

When asked about his relationship with Ari Lasso, Adi Adrian admitted to being good friends with the singer. However, he separates personal relationships from his professional responsibilities as the head of WAMI.

"If I know him, as a friend, yes I know him and he knows me too. But, besides being a musician, my position now is as the leader. That's why I clarify, you know. As friends, it's a different story," he explained.

Adi also ensured that WAMI has formally responded to the complaint made by the singer of the song Hampa. Institutional communication has been conducted through an official letter that he has signed.

"Oh it's done (in writing). As for the organization, we have already responded directly, right, immediately and everything, then I signed it. It's done," he concluded.
