Positive for Corona, Ustaz Tengku Zulkarnain Passes Away One Minute After Maghrib Call to Prayer

Kapanlagi.com - Deputy Secretary General of MUI, Ustaz Tengku Zulkarnain passed away today, Monday (10/5). Previously, he was confirmed positive for COVID-19.

The sad news was confirmed directly by one of the hospitals where the ustaz was being treated. The man, who is familiarly called Nein's father, was said to have passed away right after the Maghrib call to prayer.

"Yes, the ustaz has passed away. Just 1 minute after the Maghrib call to prayer," said Corporate Communication Director of RS Tabrani, Ian Machyar, Monday (10/5/2021), as quoted from Detik.com.

1. Admitted to the Hospital Since May 2

Ustaz Tengku Zul has been treated at RS Tabrani Pekanbaru since May 2, 2021, after testing positive for Corona. However, when he was first brought to the hospital, the condition of the deceased was reported to be stable.

"He entered our hospital on May 2. We are obliged to treat anyone who enters. It is clear that it is the Governor's order, we are the designated hospital as a referral hospital. We do our best to treat them," Ian continued.

2. No Violation of Mudik Prohibition

Ustaz Tengku Zul was declared positive for covid after undergoing a PCR swab test at Tabrani Hospital. Upon learning the result, he had planned to return to Medan, North Sumatra.

"He planned to return to Medan the next day. He was found positive because of the swab test before going back to Medan. So the swab test was for the journey. Now under the supervision of authorized doctors. Being treated in the ICU and we continue to monitor. No accompanying illness, only positive," he explained further.

Not wanting the public to make wrong assumptions, Ian clarified that Ustaz Tengku Zul entered the hospital on May 2. He did not violate the prohibition on mudik established by the government.

"The family is here from Medan and Pekanbaru, so only he is positive. What needs to be emphasized is that he entered on May 2, not May 6. Not violating mudik, because mudik is prohibited on May 6. This is the 8th day of treatment," he concluded.
