Pramono Anung and Rano Karno Cosplay as One Piece Characters, Claiming to Like Luffy to Captain Tsubasa!

Kapanlagi.com - There was a unique moment at the Jakarta Costume Festival (Jakofest) held at GOR Soemantri Brodjonoegoro on Saturday (2/11). The gubernatorial and vice-gubernatorial candidates of Jakarta, Pramono Anung and Rano Karno, appeared on stage wearing One Piece themed outfits.

Pramono appeared as Monkey D Luffy with a straw hat on his head. Not stopping there, he also wore a black t-shirt featuring the iconic Straw Hat Pirates logo. And it turns out there is a reason behind Pramono's outfit choice.

"Today I am wearing Luffy's costume from One Piece. I've liked characters like this since a long time ago, including Captain Tsubasa. I am interested in figures who are leaders, organizers, and creators," said Pramono as quoted on Sunday (3/11/2024).

Not to be outdone, Rano Karno wore a black shirt featuring a chibi Jinbei. He expressed his commitment to providing ample space for young people, especially for the Gen Z cosplayer community. They believe that this generation has great potential to contribute to Indonesia's culture and creative industry.

"For me personally, I will make this costume festival a top priority and it must be included in the Jakarta Provincial Government's activity calendar. This is a destination or a showcase that indeed represents a new trend in the world," he stated.

Rano, who is affectionately called Bang Doel, also emphasized that cosplay has become a global phenomenon and has an incredible community. He hopes this festival can spark the creativity of Indonesian youth and create local heroes who can become idols for the next generation.

"If we go to Japan, wow, there in Tokyo, it might be full of children cosplaying from all over the world," he concluded.
