Pretrial Lawsuit Rejected, Singer Piche Kota Remains a Suspect in Alleged Rape Case

Kapanlagi.com - Singer Piche Kota along with two of his associates, identified as RS and RM, must face the bitter reality regarding their legal efforts. The three of them had previously filed a pretrial lawsuit at the Atambua District Court to annul their suspect status in the alleged rape case.

However, that effort officially failed after the panel of judges decided to reject their lawsuit last Friday. With this ruling from the Atambua District Court, the suspect status held by Piche Kota and his associates is declared legally valid.

This gives the police the green light to continue the ongoing legal process. The Belu Police Chief, AKBP I Gede Ari Astawa, confirmed that the investigators are now refocusing on deepening the case.

1. Not Stopped

"The essence is that the pretrial lawsuit from the suspect (Piche Kota) was rejected by the District Court (Atambua). Therefore, the investigator continues the investigation that is already at Stage I in the Prosecutor's Office," said AKBP I Gede Ari Astawa on Sunday (15/3/2026).

Gede Ari explained that actually this legal process does not stop even though there was a lawsuit filed by the suspect. Currently, the case files are in the hands of the Prosecutor's Office for further examination. The police investigator is now working to fulfill all administrative requirements and instructions from the prosecutor so that this case can soon be brought to court.

The cooperation between the police and the Prosecutor's Office continues to be strengthened to ensure that the case files do not have legal loopholes. The Belu Police are committed to resolving this case transparently and professionally in accordance with the applicable laws in Indonesia.

"Currently, the investigator is still fulfilling P19 from the Prosecutor's Office. We are doing our utmost to ensure that the instructions from the Public Prosecutor (JPU) can be fulfilled as soon as possible so that this case can be declared complete or P21," he explained.

As background information, Piche Kota has been named a suspect in an alleged rape case involving a high school student with the initials ACT, who is only 16 years old.

This tragic incident is suspected to have been committed by Piche along with two others, namely RM and RS, in the Belu Regency area. Reports of this indecent act were first received by the Belu Police on January 13, 2026.

For their actions, Piche Kota and the two other suspects now face the threat of a lengthy prison sentence. They are charged with violating Article 473 paragraph (4) of the Criminal Code or Article 81 paragraph (2) of Law No. 17 of 2016 on Child Protection, as well as Article 415 letter b of the Criminal Code, with a maximum prison sentence of up to 15 years.
