Fajar Gusti Pangestu officially became the winner of MasterChef Indonesia Season 12 after defeating Putu Hovit Yusmanjia in the Grand Final aired on Saturday, May 17, 2025, and one of the great judges was Chef Rudy Choirudin. Check out the profile of the champion below!
Fajar's victory was achieved with a narrow score difference of 2,909 points, leading by 14 points over Hovit, who scored 2,895 points. The Grand Final consisted of three main challenges: Challenge 1, Challenge 2, and the Signature Dish Challenge, where Fajar performed consistently and ultimately emerged as the champion.
Fajar, who is now 26 years old, is a graduate of the Diploma in Food Production from Mediterranean Bali, a renowned tourism institution in Denpasar.
Initially, Fajar was directed by his father to become an architect, in line with his drawing talent. However, after his father's passing, Fajar decided to follow his passion in the culinary world. He then worked at a Russian restaurant in Bali before eventually starting his own business.
Besides being known as a chef, Fajar is also a culinary entrepreneur. He owns a street steak restaurant called Cita Rasa located in Denpasar, Bali, and also in Jakarta.
On the night of victory, Fajar presented the MasterChef trophy to his mother and surprised everyone by proposing to his girlfriend, Zahra, who is also a contestant on MasterChef Season 12.
As the champion, Fajar received a prize of Rp100 million in cash, a unit of automatic car, and 100 grams of gold bars. He also received a free trip to the United States to participate in the world's largest pizza competition.
