Prosecutor Rejects Ammar Zoni's Defense Plea and Maintains 9-Year Prison Sentence

The continuation of the legal case involving actor Ammar Zoni was held again at the Central Jakarta District Court on Thursday (4/9/2026). The agenda for this trial is the reading of the Replik or response from the Public Prosecutor (JPU) to the defense plea (pleidoi) previously submitted by the defendant's party.

In the trial, the Prosecutor firmly stated that they reject all points of defense submitted by Ammar Zoni's legal counsel. The prosecutor requested the panel of judges to decide the case in accordance with the criminal charge that was read earlier, namely a 9-year prison sentence and a fine of Rp 500 million.

"We request that the panel of judges at the Central Jakarta District Court declare the rejection of all defenses or pleas from the defendants' legal counsel, and decide the case in accordance with the criminal charges we submitted on Thursday, March 12, 2026," said the Prosecutor in the courtroom on Thursday (4/9/2026).

After the trial, Ammar Zoni appeared calm in response to the prosecutor's rejection. According to him, this is part of the usual legal procedure.

"First of all, we respect the prosecutor's rebuttal response. Yes, that's their right," said Ammar Zoni.

Ammar also took a moment to clarify news stating that his defense note reached hundreds of pages.

"Hundreds of pages, who says? That's a lot. It's only 20 pages. Right now, that's not a rejection, that's just an assumption (from the Prosecutor). If it's the Prosecutor's version, then it's reasonable, right? The Prosecutor wouldn't just accept it; if they accepted it, then I would be free," said Ammar.

In agreement with his client, Jon Mathias, as Ammar Zoni's legal counsel, explained that the defense will soon prepare a Rebuttal in response to the Prosecutor's Reply.

"We, as the Legal Counsel (PH), will also respond to the reply, which is called a rebuttal. That is indeed each party's duty. It must be understood that the Prosecutor cannot just withdraw their charges. In the end, it will be the judge who considers all the pleadings, charges, replies, and rebuttals based on the trial facts," explained Jon Mathias.
