Proven Guilty, Rachel Vennya Sentenced to 4 Months in Prison with Probation

Kapanlagi.com - The Judge of Tangerang District Court has read out the verdict against the defendants who violated health quarantine, namely Selebgram Rachel Venya, Salim Nauderee, and Maulida Khairunnia, in the trial held on Friday (10/12/2021).

Based on the facts of the case, the judge decided that all three defendants were guilty of violating Article 93 of Law Number 6 of 2018 concerning health quarantine and imposed a sentence of 4 months in prison with probation.

"Imposing a prison sentence on the first defendant, Rachel Vennya Ronald, the second defendant Salim Nauderee, and the third defendant Maulida Khairunnisa, each for 4 months in prison with 8 months probation," said the Judge.

1. 4-Month Sentence

The sentence, according to the judge, may not be executed on the condition that they undergo an 8-month probation period and do not repeat the same offense. "The sentence does not need to be served on the condition that no similar criminal act is committed during the probation period," he said.

In addition to the aforementioned sentence, the three defendants are also subject to a fine of Rp.50 million. "If the fine is not paid, it will be replaced with a one-month imprisonment," the judge stated.

2. Escape from Quarantine

For Olevina Pratiwi, the person who assisted Rachel Venya in avoiding quarantine, she is also sentenced to 4 months in prison with an 8-month probation period. However, the fine for Olevina is different. "A fine of 30 million with the provision that if the fine is not paid, it will be replaced with a one-month imprisonment," the judge said.

As known, Rachel Venya, Salim Nauderee, and Maulida Khairunnia escaped from Wisma Atlet because they did not want to undergo health quarantine after returning from the United States on September 17.

3. Bungkam

Rachel appeared silent after the examination. Both Rachel Vennya, Salim Nauderer, and Maulida remained mostly silent when asked for statements by the media.

"Please pray for Rachel, thank you," said Rachel Vennya.

4. 4 Incriminating Evidence

There are 4 strong pieces of evidence that incriminate Rachel Vennya in the case of escaping from quarantine.

"Consisting of witness statements, expert testimony, circumstantial evidence, and document evidence. Everything is proven here, that's why we declare the person as a suspect," said the Director of General Crime Investigation, Commissioner Pol Tubagus Ade Hidayat.

For her actions, Rachel Vennya is charged under Article 93 of the Indonesian Law Number 6 of 2018 concerning Health Quarantine and Article 14 of the Law Number 4 of 1984 concerning Infectious Disease Outbreaks.
