Putra Asri Welas Reveals Reasons for Wanting to Become a Specialist Doctor

Having the ambition to become a doctor is a dream for many children, but Ibam, the son of Asri Welas, already has a much more specific plan. Ibam admitted that he wants to become a specialist in dermatology or an ophthalmologist.

This choice is apparently based on his observations of the current health industry. Ibam believes that the beauty and skin health industry is currently growing very rapidly.

Ibam sees a great opportunity in being an eye specialist due to the number of people with vision problems. Ibam's thinking is quite mature for his age.

"If it were up to me, I would choose to be a dermatologist and an eye specialist. A dermatologist because the industry is much larger now. And an eye specialist because most people have vision problems," said Ibam at Warung Buncit, South Jakarta, Tuesday (17/3/2026).

In addition to the community's needs, Ibam also considers factors like time and business opportunities. According to him, even though becoming a specialist doctor requires a long time to study, the profession still allows for managing a business alongside medical practice.

"And even though many people say that studying ophthalmology takes a long time and is very difficult, actually that time can be used for business," said Ibam.

Asri Welas herself is very impressed with the business mindset of her eldest son. She sees that Ibam not only wants to have a profession but has also thought about how to manage his career independently in the future.

"Smart, he really has a business mindset, doesn't he," praised Asri Welas in response to her child's explanation.

Asri fully supports Ibam's future. Although Ibam has expressed a desire to study abroad, Asri still hopes her son can pursue his education domestically to stay close to family."I want him to go to America or Australia. No, just at UI, the priority is UI," concluded Asri Welas.
