Kapanlagi.com - Singer Irma Darmawangsa is one of the celebrities who have felt the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. Since the virus, which initially emerged in Wuhan, China, hit her beloved country, Irma can no longer perform gigs.
The scheduled gigs that were already in her hands were also canceled due to restrictions. Even until now, open shows are still prohibited and it's uncertain when they will be allowed again.
Irma admitted that the unclear situation has made her frustrated. It's not just her heart that is raging, her head is also spinning. Her savings are dwindling, while income is not coming in.
Not wanting to continue complaining, the 36-year-old woman turned her brain around and no longer relied on selling her voice and dancing as her source of income.
Since two months ago, Irma started a small business. She sells clothes that she designs herself in collaboration with her friend who owns a garment business. Not only that, Irma also sells packaged foods such as meatballs and seblak.
"Previously, I only relied on my savings, but it started to feel difficult because my savings kept decreasing but there was no income. The duration of the coronavirus pandemic is also uncertain. So, I decided to think of something, not just selling clothes, but also selling meatball cuanki and packaged seblak. It's like instant food that only needs to be cooked," she said on Thursday (1/10).
As an artist, Irma admitted that she is not ashamed or embarrassed by her current source of income. She doesn't care about what people say. At least with her small business, she can support herself and those who work with her.
"Why should I be ashamed? With the current situation of the coronavirus, shows are prohibited, so where else can I get money? If I feel ashamed, I won't have any money. Well, at least with this business, I can fill my stomach," said the single parent of one child.
