Rachel Maryam Tells the Chronology of Her Second Pregnancy After 8 Years of Waiting

Kapanlagi.com - Good news comes from the beautiful artist Rachel Maryam. The woman who is now a member of the Indonesian Parliament is currently pregnant with her second child after undergoing her third IVF process. As it is known, Rachel had failed twice before in her previous IVF processes.

It is also worth noting that the fetus she is carrying is her first child with her second husband, Edwin Aprihandono. They got married in 2011 but have not been blessed with children, so Rachel tried the IVF process several times.

"Yes, it's true, Alhamdulillah, this pregnancy has been awaited for almost 8 years. Since the beginning of our marriage in 2011, we have never used contraception and wanted to have children right away. But at that time, we tried the natural process for 2 years without success, then in the second year, we tried the IVF process. Actually, we had several failed attempts at IVF, but Alhamdulillah, in this third IVF process, there is a result, and we are very grateful to Allah," said Rachel in a video received by the media on Monday (18/5/2020).

1. Condition of the Prospective Baby

As known, Rachel's current age is 40 years old. At this age, conceiving a child is considered quite risky. However, after being examined, the condition of the prospective baby is said to be in good condition.

"Yesterday we just finished the check-up with the doctor at the 4th month of pregnancy and Alhamdulillah everything is going according to plan. So, for example, at 4 months, the length should be how many centimeters, the weight should be how many grams, all of that is fulfilled, the baby is developing well, healthy. Alhamdulillah," Rachel continued.

2. Rachel Maryam Experienced Blood Thickening

Apart from age factors, it turns out Rachel also experienced blood thickening which was another cause of her failure in undergoing 2 previous IVF processes. However, after following some doctor's advice, it seems that Rachel's blood condition is now normal.

"Well, one of the reasons for me is because I have blood thickening, why does blood thickening make it difficult for people to get pregnant? Because the nutrition for the embryo is delivered through our blood. So if the blood is thick, the nutrient intake is hindered. That's what caused the difficulty in getting pregnant. That's why eventually the doctor gave me blood thinning medication every day, it has to be injected into the stomach, there's also medication to be taken, to ensure smooth blood flow so that the nutrition to the baby is good," she concluded.
