Reasons Ruben Onsu Still Reports the Perpetrator Insulting His Child Despite Apologies

Kapanlagi.com - Ruben Onsu was furious when he found out that there were many haters' accounts of his children appearing on social media. Out of impatience, Sarwendah's husband took the case to the legal path. There are a total of about 20 accounts that are being sought for their owners.

Originally, Ruben and his legal team planned to file an official report on Monday (9/11). However, an unexpected incident occurred, causing them to postpone their report. One of the perpetrators, accompanied by his family, came to meet Ruben in person to apologize.

"The plan to file a report was slightly delayed because on Sunday afternoon to evening, there was communication with the parents or family of the child who made the video that involved hate speech regarding their adopted child's position," said Ruben Onsu's legal representative, Minola Sebayang, when met at his office in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Monday (9/11/2020).

1. Digital Footprints Will Continue to Be Stored

The perpetrator's family apparently came all the way from Lampung to Jakarta just to meet Ruben and apologize in person. Although he has forgiven, it seems that the famous presenter will still investigate this case to give a deterrent effect to the perpetrator.

"Ruben's principle is to forgive, but what the child has done cannot just disappear like that. It will leave a psychological impact. The digital footprint will continue to be stored. Therefore, we say that we need to create a deterrent effect on those who commit such acts so that it can be seen by the Indonesian society. We should not blame technological advancements for the actions of the child," added Minola.

2. Ready to Take Responsibility

The family itself has stated that they are ready to take responsibility for their child's actions. Now, Ruben and his legal team will carefully sort out which accounts should be reported and which ones should not.

"His family understands, because their child is still underage, they apologize and are ready to take responsibility for their child's actions. That's what made us decide to postpone filing a report to the police because we have to consider and sort out which accounts are worthy of being reported," he concluded.
