Reasons Why the Film KKN DI DESA PENARI Spent a Expensive Budget of Rp 15 Billion

Kapanlagi.com - After its viral story, 'KKN di Desa Penari' has finally been adapted into a feature film by MD Pictures. The production house owned by Manoj Punjabi successfully defeated several other competitors who also tried to obtain approval to bring the horror story to the big screen.

Manoj himself is serious in developing the film based on the story created by the SimpleMan account on Twitter. He wants to present the horror that was conveyed through the Twitter thread in an equally chilling audio-visual form.

"Why am I confident and sure about this KKN? Because from the beginning, we received a rate sale, so we chased after it. Many companies also participated, but MD was the first and met SimpleMan," said Manoj on the set of KKN DI DESA PENARI a while ago.

"So MD has never received attention from a film project that has no cast, no director, no writer, nothing at all. The attention came from the book, from its concept which was very high. The enthusiasm from the media made me even more confident," he added.

Manoj also added that this idealistic project began with the high enthusiasm of the community. This certainly made the producer, who has Indian blood, not want to disappoint the horror story enthusiasts from East Java.

"What is certain is the community, usually when the people like something, their enthusiasm is high, their response is high. So, the response from the community is high," he said.

"I once saw on Youtube they made a KKN trailer, as if I said, 'Wow, this is really great', to the point that they have such high expectations for this KKN. I don't want to disappoint the audience after they watch," said Manoj.

2. Spending Rp 15 Billion Budget

Interestingly, this film costs a significant amount, approximately Rp 15 billion. The 47-year-old producer also revealed the reason for the high production cost. Apparently, the lens used to capture the film is an Anamorphic Lens that will provide a different experience than usual.

"What makes it expensive? It's from the production. From the Director of Photography (DOP), the budget is high. Because for me, I want a very different production value. From DOP Ipung who usually makes big films, and this time he handles KKN with anamorphic lens. So the image is wide. MD has never used that camera before. So, with the art budget alone, I can make a horror film. So, I have made a horror film with the art budget of KKN," explained Manoj.

"Imagine, this is very all out and I really hope that Indonesian film viewers or viewers in Indonesia have expectations for this KKN. I don't want to disappoint them, that's my mission," he concluded.
