Kapanlagi.com-Disputes regarding royalties continue to be a problem in the Indonesian music industry. Several musicians have even resorted to legal action to resolve this issue.
The latest case involves Agnez Mo. Recently, Ari Bias, the creator of the song Bilang Saja sung by Agnez Mo, held a press conference regarding the unpaid royalties.
During the press conference, Ari Bias was accompanied by AKSI (Association of Indonesian Composers). In addition, LMKN Commissioner Johnny Maukar was also present. Johnny Maukar's presence was appreciated by AKSI. Not only Agnez Mo, but HWG was also mentioned for not paying performing royalties when Agnez performed.
"AKSI appreciates Commissioner LMKN Mr. Johnny Maukar who has attended and provided information regarding the unpaid performing royalty from Agnez Mo's event organized by HWG," as stated in AKSI's post on their Instagram account.
"The information and support from LMKN are greatly needed to strengthen the summons made by the songwriters based on facts and data if there is indeed a violation of Copyright Law," AKSI's post on their Instagram account continued.
In a recent press conference, Ari Bias issued an open summons to Agnez Mo and PT Aneka Bintang Gading, also known as Hollywing Group. Previously, Ari accused Agnez Mo of performing his song Bilang Saja at events held in Surabaya, Bandung, and Jakarta.
Meanwhile, Jhonny Maukar, confirms what Ari Bias conveyed. He also added that he is ready to support Ari Bias by showing the existing documents.
"Regarding Ari Bias' question to us, it is true that the use of the song did not pay royalties," said Johnny Maukar.
Regarding the royalty issue, LMKN admits that they have followed the correct procedures. However, in its implementation, there are still parties who do not comply with the existing regulations.
"We have tried to collect royalties, some pay, some refuse to pay," said Johnny Maukar.
