In 2024, Miles Films announced the production of a film titled RANGGA & CINTA which will be directed by Riri Riza based on a screenplay by Mira Lesmana and Titien Wattimena. This film will be a remake but in the form of a musical.

Mira Lesmana, as the producer and screenplay writer, said that the initial idea of creating RANGGA & CINTA came up during the pandemic. However, at that time, it was intended to be a series for streaming services.
"This is not a sudden idea that came during the pandemic. It's crazy how productive we are during the pandemic. But honestly, it was born when OTT was booming, everyone was demanding us to create something. One of them was our desire to create a musical series ADA APA DENGAN CINTA?. So we wanted to offer something new on the digital platform,"

However, after careful consideration, the serial project transformed into a film. When the concept was pitched by Mira Lesmana to the team, enthusiastic responses immediately poured in.
"I pitched that the format be changed to the big screen, and we even level it up. Finally, we immediately took action. I have had experience writing the screenplay for the musical Laskar Pelangi, and my love for musical films is also great, so I tried to conceptualize what the musicality would be like," said Mira.
Riri Riza revealed his enthusiasm for directing the musical film RANGGA & CINTA using new stars. Before the audition process began, he had already searched through a collection of young actors and actresses he had encountered.
"There will be many new faces here. I started searching for young people with great talent. In a musical, it's not just about acting, but they must be able to sing and have a body that is adaptable to the cool choreography. These will be fun months," explained Riri on the same occasion.
