Remembering Sudden Death of Younger Sister, Melly Goeslaw Reveals Different Mother - Growing up in Religious Tolerance

Kapanlagi.com - Melly Goeslaw's younger sister named Shanty Yuliet Goeslaw passed away on Monday (18/3) yesterday. The woman, who is familiarly called Uli, took her last breath due to a heart attack.

Melly was shocked to find out that her sister suddenly passed away. Because all this time, Uli was in good health, while her sister's husband was the one struggling against illness.

"She must have been shocked because we were frequently communicating via WhatsApp. As far as I know, it was her husband who was sick, not her. She was very healthy and never complained of any illness. Well, it's all about age, no one knows," said Melly when met at TPU Pondok Ranggon, East Jakarta, Wednesday (20/3).

During their lifetime, Melly Goeslaw and Shanty Yuliet Goeslaw supported each other and often shared their life problems. The heaviest story of their lives was when Uli lost her youngest child.

"It was our habit to support each other and share our problems. The hardest time was when she lost her child. Because as far as I know, she and I were out of town, then we were informed that her child had Covid and was buried not like this. Alhamdulillah, now they are in the same grave because she always complains and misses him," explained the wife of Anto Hoed.

2. Tolerance Since Childhood

Melly Goeslaw tells the story of the fun times she had with Shanty Yuliet Goeslaw, who grew up in tolerance. As is known, Melly was born to a different mother than her four other siblings.

"We are close but not living together because I have a different mother from Uli. Although we have different beliefs, I used to accompany her to church. That happened when I was little and staying at my dad's house. Sometimes I also went into the church," said Melly.

"That's why I didn't go to the funeral home yesterday, to give as much space as possible for Uli's family according to their beliefs. Meanwhile, I am in Ramadan, so I chose to go directly to the grave," she added.
