Represented by his Legal Counsel, Doctor Richard Lee Gives Defense After Being Detained for Illegal Access Case

Kapanlagi.com - Cosmetic doctor Richard Lee has been detained by the Metro Jaya Regional Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Ditreskrimum) for alleged illegal access and tampering with evidence on Monday (27/12). This happened after the case file was declared complete, so the suspect and the evidence were immediately transferred from the police to the prosecutor's office.

This case of alleged illegal access and tampering with evidence is different from the defamation report filed by artist Kartika Putri against Richard Lee in December 2020. Based on the police investigation, Richard Lee is suspected of accessing an Instagram account and removing the seized evidence that was used as evidence in Kartika Putri's report.

Previously, Richard Lee was arrested for this case in August 2021, but at that time, he was not detained. Four months later, precisely at the end of December, the police detained Richard Lee for the same case.

Therefore, through his legal counsel, Razman Nasution provides a defense for his detention regarding the case. He claims that his client did not know that the post uploaded to Facebook would also be shared on his Instagram account.

"In early August 2021, supposedly, he tried to post. But then it was automatically posted and uploaded from Facebook to Instagram," Razman revealed when met at the Jakarta Metro Police, Tuesday (28/12).

"In the context of Dr. Richard's lack of understanding of the law, what has been seized ideally cannot be breached," he continued.

2. Accidentally Accessing the Seized Instagram Account

Furthermore, Razman stated that Richard Lee accidentally accessed his seized Instagram account.

"There is no intention from Dr. Richard Lee to breach, duplicate, or hack the Instagram account that has been seized by the Cyber Crime Division of the Jakarta Metro Police," he stated.

3. Suddenly Arrested

When met at the Jakarta Metro Police on Tuesday (28/12), Razman said this was unexpected. The police arrested Richard Lee because the first stage of the illegal access case against him has been declared complete by the prosecutor or P21.

"The arrest was unexpected," said Razman.

Afterwards, the investigator immediately transferred the second stage to the prosecutor's office, namely the suspect and the evidence. Because of that, Richard had to be detained until the second stage of the transfer process.

4. Submit Suspension

As his legal counsel, Razman will submit a detention suspension letter to the Jakarta High Prosecutor's Office. He also mentioned that his client's condition during the detention is good.

"So actually, this condition is not sensitive," said Razman.

5. Understand Psychological Conditions

"However, I understand the psychological condition of my client, his wife's psychological condition," he said.

Previously, Richard Lee was arrested on Wednesday afternoon, August 11, 2021, on suspicion of illegal access and evidence tampering on an Instagram account seized by investigators as evidence. The Jakarta Metro Police then declared him a suspect.
