In mid-2023, Erick Tohir sent a team of doctors from Pertamina Central Hospital (RSPP), South Jakarta, to examine Kurnia Meiga's condition.

"During the examination with the team, we found abnormalities in the eyes. The left eye is particularly prominent. However, there are also abnormalities in the right eye," said a doctor in Erick Thohir's video quoted from bola.net.

"The examination includes physical examination, eye examination, laboratory tests, and radiology," he explained.

Furthermore, Erick Thohir cannot disclose Kurnia Meiga's illness. He leaves it to the doctors and the goalkeeper's family.

"That's not my area to speak about. The doctors and the family will speak about it. I don't want to intervene beyond that," said Erick Thohir in a press conference at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (24/5/2023) as reported by bola.com.

3. Suspected to Have Papilledema

Quoting from various sources, the disease suffered by Kurnia Meiga is strongly suspected to be Papilledema. As reported by alodokter.com, Papilledema is the swelling of the optic nerve in the eye due to brain pressure.

This has an impact on vision function. Furthermore, brain hemorrhage and stroke can occur. Additional symptoms of Papilledema are nausea and headaches.
