Ridwan Kamil's Wife Witnesses Emmeril Kahn Mumtadz Being Swept Away by River Current, Screams for Help

Kapanlagi.com - Emmeril Kahn Mumtadz, son of the Governor of West Java, Ridwan Kamil, was swept away by the river current in Switzerland on Thursday (26/5/2022). Local SAR officials are still searching for Eril.

Elpi Nurzaman, a family representative, recounted the moments leading up to Eril being swept away by the current. At the time, the family was at the location with Eril.

1. Plan to Swim Together

Elpi said that Eril, who was with his mother, Atalia Praratya Kamil, his sister, Camillia Laetitia Azzahra, and several other family members, was interested in swimming in the Aare River in Bern, Switzerland.

"The river there has clear water and makes everyone want to swim," said Elpi during a virtual press conference on Saturday (28/5/2022).

2. Already Inspected Location

Elpi revealed that before entering the river, Eril, who has a diving certificate and the ability to assess and measure currents, had already inspected a safe location for swimming.

"Based on information from the family there, before swimming, Eril made sure which points were safe," he said.

3. Not Everyone Joined the Swim

According to Elpi, Eril also chose who would join the swim. Eril chose his younger brother and his friend who had been living in Switzerland for a long time to swim with him. Meanwhile, his mother was not allowed to enter the river.

"Eril arranged for those who were capable to join based on their readiness. Because my nephew is a responsible young man, he also made sure his mother did not join (the swim)," said Elpi.

4. Shouts for Help

Furthermore, Elpi said that what happened to Eril was fate. When he was carried away by the current, it was said that Eril shouted for help.

"Physically and mentally, he was ready and the location was already ensured to be safe. Qodarullah, something unexpected happened, Eril was carried away by the current and he shouted for help. Then, the family who were on the shore ran to search for him and the shout for help was heard by the residents who then called the police," he said.

5. The Resilient and Patient Family

Elpi ensures that Ridwan Kamil and his wife Atalia Kamil, as well as their family currently in Switzerland, are resilient in facing this test.

"He (Ridwan Kamil) and his family are observed to be healthy, resilient, and patient in facing this test," she concluded.
