Ruben Onsu Officially Divorced, Custody of Children Granted to Sarwendah

Kapanlagi.com - The panel of judges at the South Jakarta District Court officially ruled on the divorce case of Ruben and Sarwendah today, Tuesday (24/9/2024). Regarding child custody, it was granted to Sarwendah because Ruben did not raise that point in his lawsuit.

"Because indeed from the beginning, both regarding joint property and child custody were never requested by the plaintiff, so the panel of judges did not consider that matter," said the spokesperson for the South Jakarta District Court, Tapanuli Marbun, at his office on Tuesday (24/9/2024).

1. Sarwendah Granted Custody of the Child

Furthermore, Tapanuli explained that legally, children under the age of majority are usually under the custody of their mother. This also applies in the divorce between Ruben Onsu and Sarwendah.

"Yes, indeed, legally if the child is still underage, they are under the authority of the wife," said Tapanuli.

2. Ruben Free to Meet the Child

Although custody of the child is in Sarwendah's hands, the panel of judges still granted Ruben the right to meet and participate in raising his children.

"However, it does not rule out the possibility for the plaintiff and her husband to also play a role in educating, nurturing, and taking care of the child, which is not limited," he said.

For information, Ruben Onsu filed for divorce from Sarwendah on June 11, 2024, after 11 years of marriage. Their marriage, which began on October 22, 2013, has been blessed with two daughters. In addition, Ruben and Sarwendah also adopted young singer, Betrand Peto, as their child.
