Seeking Justice Because the Verdict is Deemed Illogical, That's Why Gaga Muhammad and Family Appeal

Last Monday (24/1/2022), Fahmi Bachmid, as the legal representative of Gaga, filed an appeal to the East Jakarta District Court. This is so that the sentence can be reduced.

1. Decision from the Family

The appeal was made after Gaga Muhammad spoke with both of his parents. One reason is to seek justice for the legal case that ensnared him.

"This is a family decision. Gaga is still a child. Because Gaga appealed, he talked to his parents, and his parents said, 'If we seek justice, we have to appeal,'" explained Fahmi Bachmid when contacted by the media on Tuesday (25/1/2022).

2. Gaga Muhammad Was Confused

Furthermore, Fahmi Bachmid said that Gaga Muhammad was confused by the decision of the East Jakarta District Court. So he advised his client to appeal if he disagreed.

"Well, he was just confused. But then I said, 'If you object, just appeal,'" said Fahmi.

3. Many Problems

Fahmi Bachmid reveals what caused Gaga Muhammad and his family to object. They feel that the entire burden should not be borne by the 21-year-old young man.

"It seems objectionable that the burden and responsibility should be shouldered by Gaga. There are many problems there, including the issue of not wearing a seat belt and negligence by the hospital," Fahmi continued.

4. Feeling Illogical

Furthermore, Fahmi Bachmid said that Gaga Muhammad and his family are disappointed with the judge's decision. They feel that the verdict is illogical.

"Yes, of course, they are disappointed, unless the verdict is reasonable. But this verdict is just illogical," Fahmi concluded.

5. Proven Guilty

Gaga Muhammad is proven guilty of the accident that caused his ex-girlfriend, Edelenyi Laura Anna, to become paralyzed and die. The young man is proven to have violated Article 310 Paragraph 3 of Law No. 22 of 2009 concerning Traffic and Road Transportation because he was driving under the influence of alcohol.

Gaga was sentenced to four years and six months in prison. The former lover of the celebrity influencer Awkarin is also required to pay a fine of ten million rupiahs.
