Senior Actor Otig Pakis Passes Away After Battling Rectal Cancer for Three Years

Kapanlagi.com - Senior actor Otig Pakis passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2024. He passed away after battling rectal cancer for over three years. Otig's body was buried at the Bengkel Teater Cemetery Complex, Depok, West Java, on Friday, August 9.

Otig Pakis, who made his acting debut in the film Di Luar Batas in 1984, had been involved in various film productions in the country. Some of his well-known films include Sajen, Filosofi Kopi 2: Ben & Jody, and Ketika Mas Gagah Pergi. Otig passed away at the age of 64.

Otig's son, Macan Wigit, expressed his gratitude for still being given the chance to be with his father longer even though Otig had to fight against the deadly disease.

"This, father has been fighting cancer for over 3 years and his condition, in the end, we are grateful to have been given more time," said Otig's son, Macan Wigit, after the funeral.

1. Never Complaining

During those difficult times, Macan saw for himself how strong and resilient Otig was in fighting his illness. Even though he often went in and out of the hospital for therapy, Otig remained spirited and never complained.

"Dad keeps fighting for us and we are very grateful to him. His condition has been going in and out of therapy. To the hospital too," he said.

"If asked about complaining? Dad doesn’t complain. All this time, if he can walk by himself, do anything by himself, he will do it himself," he added.

2. High Dedication

Otig's dedication to his profession has never faded, even in illness. Macan revealed that his father still tries to act and meet with friends who study acting.

"In the midst of his illness, he still strives to act and meet with friends who study acting. So his passion allows him to endure for so long," he concluded.
