The singer of Minang songs took her last breath at MMC Hospital, Kuningan, South Jakarta. The cause of death was not due to Covid-19, but digestive problems.
This was explained by Arfi Bambani, her nephew. When contacted by the media, he explained that Elly passed away due to chronic digestive problems.
"The family group has been busy since yesterday, Aunt Elly was being treated at the hospital. I don't know when she was admitted. It was an emergency but not Covid-19," said Arfi.

"There were digestive problems that were said to be chronic, which eventually led to complications in other organs," he added.
Furthermore, Arfi explained that Elly Kasim was a figure of pride in her hometown. As known, the late singer came from Tiku, a region in West Sumatra.
"My mother is a cousin of hers. We come from Tiku, a region in West Sumatra. She is a pride of the people in our village," explained Arfi.
