In the next post, Sheila discussed that she is not a newcomer to Bali. Although born in Malang, Sheila has Balinese blood from her father, who is of mixed Balinese-Dutch descent. "I am not a newcomer to Bali, I am mixed blood, but my grandmother on my father's side is a true Balinese and I still have many relatives in Puri Pliatan Ubud. My heart has always loved BALI since I was little until now. This is my island and I am sad to see Bali flooded as badly as yesterday, resulting in loss of life," wrote Sheila.

"And what I realize is that since I was little, I always sat in the back of the car, opening the glass door to enjoy the rice fields stretching along the green path. Now that I am an adult, it's really hard to find rice fields. What I see is development everywhere and many shophouses. Where is the green path from before??? Where is my beautiful Bali? The cool, clean, and natural one?" continued Sheila.

Sheila also voiced her concerns about the current situation in Bali. "It's not wrong to blame the system or the government or whatever it is that seems not to provide a solution to the waste system in Indonesia/Bali (sorry I’m not good at politics, apologies if there are any wrong words) I just care about Bali, its beauty, its cleanliness, and its culture that is very respectful of the environment and living beings," she wrote.

Sheila also invites everyone to be environmentally conscious and not to litter. She herself always tries to pick up trash when jogging in the morning. "Every time after my morning run, my husband and I always take the time to pick up the TRASH that is scattered on the beach. Trash often gets hidden among the rocks near the sea," she wrote.

"Maybe what we are doing is not something big, but if this awareness is done together all at once, I believe we will make the world a better place," hopes Sheila.
