SMA Binus Serpong Speaks Out About Bullying Case, Perpetrators Expelled and Witnesses Given Strict Sanctions

Kapanlagi.com - The case of bullying that occurred among students of SMA Binus Serpong is now being handled by the police. The school itself has also imposed strict sanctions on the perpetrators, including one student who is the child of Vincent Rompies.

In a press release, Haris Suhendra, Binus School Education's spokesperson, stated that the school will not tolerate any form of violence, whether it occurs inside or outside the school.

"BINUS SCHOOL implements a Zero Tolerance Policy towards any form of violence, whether physical, psychological, or emotional. We condemn all forms of violence, both inside and outside the school, which contradict the values upheld in the school environment," said Haris.

1. Focus on the Victims

Furthermore, the release also explains that currently SMA Binus Serpong is focusing on the recovery of students who have become victims of bullying by several students.

"Facing this incident, as a school, we prioritize our attention and efforts to support the physical, psychological, and emotional recovery of the victims, as well as all students who have been affected," he explained.

2. Strict Sanctions

And for the perpetrators who bullied the victims, the school has also imposed very strict sanctions. The three perpetrators have been expelled from the school, and several other students have also received sanctions.

"After learning about the incident, the school conducted an intensive investigation. All students who were found to have committed acts of violence are no longer part of the BINUS SCHOOL community. Several other students who witnessed the incident without taking preventive or assistance measures have also received severe disciplinary sanctions," wrote Harsi.

3. Cooperating with the Police

Currently, this bullying case has also entered the legal realm. The police have also started further investigations regarding this case. And SMA Binus Serpong, as the school, will also cooperate with the police.

"Considering that this incident is already in the legal realm, we are committed to cooperating and assisting in the investigative process by the authorities," he said.

Binus also emphasizes to the public not to spread information about the children involved in this case, as they are still underage.

"Realizing that this incident involves underage children, we request understanding from the public regarding the school's position not to share details related to the privacy of both the victims and everyone involved in this incident," he explained.
