SMA Binus Takes Firm Action against the Perpetrators of Bullying, Including Vincent Rompies' Child?

Kapanlagi.com - Binus School, Serpong, South Tangerang, has taken a firm stance against the bullying committed by some of its students some time ago. SMA Binus spokesperson, Haris Suhendra, appreciates the high public sympathy for the violence incident among its students.

"This incident is very heavy for the victim and the victim's parents, and certainly also brings deep concern from the entire school community. Our prayers and support are directed towards the victim and their family," wrote Haris Suhendra in his written statement on Wednesday (21/2/2024).

The school does not tolerate any form of violence, whether physical, psychological, or emotional, among its students. Moreover, such incidents are contrary to the values upheld in the school environment.

"Facing this incident, we as the school prioritize our attention and efforts to support the physical, psychological, and emotional recovery of the victim, as well as all students who have been affected," he said.

1. Drop Out Decision

As a result of the incident, Binus High School has taken four measures against the students who were involved in bullying. One of them is the decision to Drop Out (DO) the perpetrators.

The four measures taken by the school are as follows:

1. The violence incident experienced by our students was carried out by a number of other students, which occurred outside the school environment and outside school hours.

2. After learning about the incident, the school conducted an intensive investigation. All students proven to have engaged in violent acts are no longer part of the BINUS SCHOOL community.

Other students who witnessed the incident without taking preventive or assistance measures have also received strict disciplinary sanctions.

3. Considering that this incident has entered the legal realm, we are committed to cooperatively assisting in any investigation process conducted by the authorities.

4. Recognizing that this incident involves underage children, we request understanding from the public regarding the school's position to not disclose any details related to the privacy of both the victims and all those involved in this incident. Once again, we emphasize that there is no justification for any form of violence. The school's main focus at the moment is to provide the necessary support and assistance to the victim and their family.

As reported, the issue of bullying at Binus School Serpong itself has been widely circulated since Sunday (18/2/2024). In the information circulating on social media X, it is mentioned that there is a high school student who was beaten up by his seniors until he was hospitalized.

The case gained more attention after news emerged that some of the perpetrators are the children of celebrities in the country, such as artist Vincent Rompies and news presenter Arief Suditomo.
