Society Requests 'VINA: SEBELUM 7 HARI' Film to be Withdrawn from Circulation Due to Controversy, Here's the Film Censorship Board's Response

Kapanlagi.com - On Wednesday last week (29/5/2023), the Indonesian Muslim Lawyers Association visited the Bareskrim Polri. On behalf of the community, they reported the horror crime film VINA: SEBELUM 7 HARI which is considered to have caused a commotion.

Due to the commotion that occurred, they want the film, which is adapted from a tragic event in Cirebon, to be immediately withdrawn from circulation. Because legally it has not yet obtained a final legal force.

"We come to demand justice. We see that a film is already circulating which is still under investigation, has not reached the court, let alone a final legal decision. Therefore, we request that the circulation of this film be immediately withdrawn," said Zainul Arifin, the association's chairman, after making the report.

1. Called to Create Chaos

Not only filing a complaint to Bareskrim Polri, the Indonesian Muslim Lawyers Association also visited the Film Censorship Board for consultation. After expressing their opinions, the LSF questioned what kind of chaos VINA: SEBELUM 7 HARI had caused.

"It was said to create a commotion. Well, this must be seen, it must be proven, what kind of commotion? Does the commotion lead to chaos where people are triggered to commit criminal acts or does the commotion actually uncover a case that is still unclear," said Rommy Fibri Hardiyanto, Chairman of the LSF, when met in the Senayan area, Central Jakarta, on Monday (3/6/2024).

2. Appreciation for Coming to Consultation

The Film Censorship Board stated that a film cannot be suddenly withdrawn from circulation with unclear reasons. Nevertheless, they appreciate the Indonesian Muslim Lawyers Association for their wise approach to the issue.

"A film should not be considered as causing a commotion and then be requested to be withdrawn arbitrarily. But the LSF appreciates the association for coming to consultation. They asked about this film and we have received the report. We will follow up, evaluate, and then we will convey," emphasized Rommi Fibry Hardiyanto.
