Edric explained that he used the Chinese element as a stepping stone in his career. This is because he was not well-known by many people before. Even this Chinese-blooded artist admitted that he was once slapped by someone because of his attitude.

"Back then, when I was off-air, someone wanted to slap me. It was because I spoke Mandarin in a careless way. I can't speak it, I can only sing actually," said Edric, followed by singing.

"Then he said, 'You are embarrassing Chinese people. You are humiliating me'. While you think that I am Chinese, meaning that I would not humiliate my own family. At that time, Nycta Gina was there and she was scared," he added.

Edric explained that at that time, he and Nycta Gina were filling in for a wedding event. The event organizer asked him to make the event more lively, so Edric considered it as just entertainment.

He admitted that he had no intention of belittling the Chinese race at all. However, one of the guests did not appreciate Edric's jokes.

"Well, I really can't speak Mandarin. But I know that it means nothing. I'm not speaking anything vulgar, not speaking anything at all. Because I can listen to people speaking (Chinese), but I can't speak it. So if my parents speak to each other secretly, for example, I know, I understand. But I can't speak it," explained Edric.
