Rin Okumura and his twin brother, Yukio, were raised in a church by a skilled Exorcist named Shiro Fujimoto. For 15 years, Rin lived like an ordinary human, although he often got into fights due to his temper. When his demon powers awaken, marked by the appearance of blue flames, Shiro works hard to seal those powers using the Kurikara sword. However, when Satan tries to bring Rin back to Gehenna, Shiro sacrifices himself to protect Rin.

Determined to defeat Satan, Rin decides to enroll in True Cross Academy, a secret school that trains Exorcists. He must hide his identity as the son of a demon. Rin is shocked to discover that Yukio, his twin brother whom he has always considered weak, has actually become a veteran Exorcist and even one of his teachers at the academy. Rin's adventure to master his demon powers, forge friendships, and clear his name in the eyes of fellow Exorcists begins, under the shadow of his true identity that could destroy the world of Assiah at any moment.

As for unique facts about this anime, the anime Blue Exorcist in its first season (2011) has a storyline and ending that is filler (original anime) starting from episode 16 and onwards. This happened because the production process was chasing the release of the ongoing manga. The second season, Blue Exorcist Kyoto Saga, was produced a few years later (2017) and completely disregards the ending of the filler from the first season. Kyoto Saga again follows the manga's storyline (volumes 5 to 9) and is considered an official continuation that aligns with Kazue Kato's original work.
