Kapanlagi.com - The synopsis of the Made in Abyss Orth arc focuses on the introduction of the city of Orth, the Abyss, as well as the starting point of Riko's determination and her meeting with Reg before truly descending into the depths.
The story in this arc lays the foundation for the world, the Cave Raider system, and the main motivation for the upcoming dangerous journey.
At the edge of the mysterious giant hole called the Abyss stands the city of Orth, the center of activity for explorers who live by hunting ancient relics within the chasm.
In the midst of the hustle and bustle of this trading city and expeditions lies the Belchero Orphanage, where orphans are educated to become the next generation of Cave Raiders.
Riko is a curious orphan girl with a passion for expedition stories, especially those related to her mother, Lyza the legendary White Whistle.
Since she was little, Riko has dreamed of following in her mother's footsteps and descending as deep as possible into the Abyss, even though everyone knows that the chasm holds a deadly curse.

Orth thrives on the Cave Raider system, where explorers are divided based on the color of their whistles that indicate each individual's level of ability and depth permission.
However, each layer of the Abyss has the effect of the "Curse of the Abyss" that becomes more brutal when someone tries to ascend again, ranging from dizziness to extreme pain and bodily changes.
As part of their training, the children of the Belchero Orphanage, including Riko, are routinely sent down to the upper layers of the Abyss to collect relics and learn survival skills.
Here, they directly experience the dangers of the Abyss, both from the terrain and from the strange creatures that inhabit the cliffs and mist.

One day during an expedition, Riko was attacked by a dangerous creature and nearly lost his life before being saved by a mysterious figure in the form of a boy with a mechanical body whom he later named Reg.
Reg lost his memory of the past but clearly possesses extraordinary abilities, such as extending arms and powerful energy weapons that do not originate from the ordinary technology of Orth.
Riko brought Reg to the surface and disguised his identity as a new child in the orphanage to prevent him from being forcibly taken by the authorities or Abyss researchers.
The early days in Belchero presented a warm yet harsh daily life, as Reg learned to live as an ordinary human while Riko quietly studied his body that resembled a high-level artifact.
The situation changed when Orth was shaken by the discovery of relics and notes from Lyza's expedition, including her white whistle that surfaced without its owner.
Among the findings was a message that implicitly suggested Lyza was waiting "at the bottom of the Abyss," as if calling Riko to come meet her.
Reading the message, Riko was struck by a conflict between his fear of the Abyss curse and his longing for the figure of a mother he had only known through stories.
Ultimately, he decided to truly descend, realizing that the journey into the depths meant it was almost impossible to return to Orth safely.
The Arc of Orth closed with an emotional farewell moment as Riko and Reg snuck out of the city, saying their last goodbyes to their friends and to the normal life they would never have again.
With Reg choosing to accompany him despite not knowing his origins, the two stepped into the Abyss, opening a chapter of dark adventures that far exceeded the comfort of the surface world.
