This island was once the battleground for a fierce fight between Admiral Akainu and Aokiji, which resulted in the area having extremely high temperatures and air pressure with violent storms caused by drastic temperature differences.

Upon arriving at this dangerous island, Luffy and the crew meet Kinemon, a samurai from Wano who is searching for his son, Momonosuke, who is lost on the island.

They also encounter Trafalgar Law, a pirate who has formed an alliance with Caesar Clown, an evil scientist conducting dangerous experiments on the island to produce materials used by Joker (Donquixote Doflamingo) in the dark business of creating fake devil fruits called SMILE.

The Straw Hats, along with Law and several Marine members like Smoker and Tashigi, become involved in battles against Caesar's forces wearing hazmat suits.
