The Disputed Land of Ashanty Holds Sweet Memories with the Late Father

Ashanty's struggle to defend the inherited land in Cinangka, Depok, is not only based on material value. Behind the heated dispute lies priceless childhood memories with her beloved father.

For Ashanty, the land is a silent witness to moments shared with her father. She recounts that during her childhood, her father often took her fishing in a pond that used to be located on that land. Those memories make her struggle feel more personal and emotional.

"Oh, it's definitely there. So this land, back in the day, I lived in Bona Indah, close to here. When I was a kid, since it was hard to meet my dad, whenever he wanted to meet us, he would often take us fishing here. Later, the catch would be cooked in the hut over there," said Ashanty when met at the disputed land location on Thursday (18/9/2025).

The land actually already has a big plan from the family. Ashanty and her mother plan to build a foundation and small houses for her children in the future, continuing the dreams and memories that once existed there.

"I don't know, I don't think about it, because there are already many housing developments here and initially we wanted to build a foundation because we wanted to create a foundation and above that, my mom wanted to build small houses for the kids. When we were little, we used to go fishing with my dad," she said.

However, the good intentions and beautiful memories are now at risk of fading away. The developer who has purchased the land from another party is increasingly aggressive in carrying out construction after their last meeting. Ashanty feels that her efforts to find a peaceful solution seem to be ignored.

"Yes. Ever since that meeting, the construction has actually progressed even more. I only met once, and then after that with Mas Haris. I told Ris why meet with him often if there is no good solution. He said, let's just see, Ma'am, how far it goes. Because, after all, Mas Haris can be amicable, peaceful," he said.

Although frustrated, Ashanty tries to approach this issue with a cool head. She believes that every problem in life is a test, and what matters most is how to face it wisely and continue to fight for the truth.

"Yes, it must be frustrating, but in life, there will always be problems. It's just a matter of how we respond, how we face them, that's the most important thing. And I will continue to fight for our rights," he said.
