The Secret of Gabriel Prince Appearing as 'Korean Oppa', Learning Makeup by Himself Because of Dirty Brushes

Gabriel Prince's appearance, which always looks fresh and charming, often makes many people curious. Behind his visuals that are often said to resemble a Korean oppa, there is actually effort and a process that is not instant. One of his secrets is that Prince actually learned to do his own makeup.

This decision was not without reason. He recounted an unpleasant experience that triggered it. The singer of the song Solicitude once experienced a breakout or severe acne that he suspected was caused by unhygienic makeup tools.

"I finally decided to learn makeup myself because at that time the main reason why I experienced a breakout was probably because the makeup artist at that time was using dirty brushes," recalled Gabriel Prince.

Since that moment, he didn't want to take any risks. This 21-year-old man began to conduct in-depth research on skincare products that were suitable for him, until he finally found the right routine.

"So in the end, I said something like, 'Alright then, I might as well learn by myself,' you know. So, there were a lot of preparations and many steps that I had to go through first," he said when met in Mampang, South Jakarta, on Monday (01/9/2025).

For Prince, taking care of oneself is not a taboo for men. He actually wants to fight against the stigma or what he calls toxic masculinity, where men who take care of themselves are considered feminine.

"I still feel like there's something called toxic masculinity, right? Guys feel that if they do skincare or take care of themselves, it looks like, what, feminine. But it's not," he asserted.

According to him, a man who cares about his appearance and personal hygiene actually looks cooler and more masculine because it is a form of self-appreciation.

"Actually, it makes you more masculine in my opinion. Because you acknowledge that you really care about yourself," he added.

He concluded that his current appearance is the result of a long process and concern for himself. "I mean it's all a process. If let's say I wasn't that caring about my appearance, maybe I wouldn't look like the Korean oppas that you guys know," he concluded.
