Kapanlagi.com - Edward Akbar took a brave step by reporting his wife, Kimberly Ryder, to the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI). This step was taken after allegations of child abuse allegedly committed by Kimberly came to light.

What his wife did made Edward worried about the safety and psychological well-being of their child. With the support of his lawyer, Jundri R. Berutu, Edward hopes this action can prevent repeated violence and protect their child's future.

"So, like this, actually our client does not want to expose this because this is a family matter, but whether we like it or not, since our client has never met his child, it is feared that this repeated action will continue to occur," he stated while giving a statement at the KPAI office, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Thursday (3/10/2024).

1. Edward Feels Concern for His Child

Concerns about the physical and psychological safety of children are the main reasons behind the report. Jundri added that the current situation is very concerning, especially considering the child's development period known as the golden age.

"It keeps happening like that, so he is worried about his child's physical or psychological condition, especially since this is the golden age. Now they haven't seen their child again, whereas just yesterday there was often violence happening in the same house, let alone when they are not in the same house, we don’t know," he explained.

2. Edward Documents Incidents

One form of preventive effort made by Edward is documenting every incident.

“That is precisely the preventive effort of a father towards his child. So everything is recorded, the date and time like that. So, besides CCTV evidence, the husband is also there or the complainant when violence occurs, then the complainant is the one who lifts the child, intervenes, something like that,” he said.

3. Alleged Violence Incident

When asked about Edward's efforts to reprimand Kimberly, Jundri explained, “Edward has reprimanded her; if we look at those videos, it’s more like ‘mom, don’t be harsh with the child’. In fact, there are several instances where the child fell, and he intervened, even picking them up.” This shows that Edward is not only passive but is actively trying to protect their child.

“The incidents occurred around October 2023, then in February 2024, and in April 2024. These were physical incidents, and many were not recorded,” Jundri explained about the chronology of events.

4. Incidents That Serve as Evidence Against Edward

Various forms of reported violence are also quite striking. Not only that, Jundri also explained about more physical violence.

"There are three incidents that we have provided as evidence. The first was violence around October 2023, where the perpetrator allegedly pinched the child until they fell, cried. Then in February 2024, he hit the child in the stomach until they cried," Jundri explained.

"Then the third incident involved the first child, who was scratched, leaving scratch marks. When asked, the child admitted that they were scratched by their mom. We have included videos as evidence," he revealed.

5. Edward Reports to KPAI

This evidence shows that the acts of violence were not only verbal but also physical. This situation certainly raises great concern for Edward and his team. With the report to KPAI, they hope that this action can stop the violence that may continue to occur.

"We hope KPAI can quickly take the necessary steps to protect children from this dangerous situation," concluded Jundri.
