Trial Postponed, Legal Counsel Reveals Ammar Zoni's Disappointment - Wants It to End Quickly

The panel of judges granted the request of the JPU, so the trial will resume on September 7, 2023.

"So because the public prosecutor is not ready, the trial will be held on September 7. Don't postpone it again because the defendant needs a clear status," said the Panel of Judges.

Ammar Zoni's Legal Counsel, Abdullah Emile Oemar Alamudy, also mentioned that his client was very disappointed with the postponement of this trial.

"Definitely, definitely, Ammar also talked to me that he was disappointed. He wants this trial to be finished quickly. And it's clear what he has to bear, in the sense of whether he has to appeal or has to accept the rehabilitation verdict, or what, we still don't know," he explained.

Meanwhile, the legal counsel also explained the possibility that the prosecutor may not be ready with their demands because this is not the first time Ammar Zoni has been involved in a drug case. 

"Currently, the prosecutor may have difficulty determining the appropriate demands. On one hand, Ammar has been caught twice for drugs, the first time it was marijuana as far as I know, and for the second time, it's already twice," said Abdullah Emile Oemar Alamudy. 

"On one hand, there are regulations stating that drug addicts should undergo rehabilitation. So it would be appropriate if the prosecutor's demand is not imprisonment but rehabilitation, maybe like that," he concluded. 

As is known, Ammar Zoni was arrested on Wednesday (8/3/2023) after previously the police successfully arrested his driver with the initials M. M admitted to buying drugs for Ammar.
