Uya Kuya Says the Conflict Between Agnez Mo and Ari Bias is Just a Communication Issue: They Should Be Open and Talk Together

"I think the case between Agnez and Ari Bias is just a matter of poor communication. But if it can be communicated, why not communicate it properly?" said Uya when met at the South Jakarta Metro Police, Thursday (20/2/2025).

According to him, both Agnez and Ari have made significant contributions to each other's success. He emphasized the importance of a mutually supportive relationship between songwriters and singers.

"In a way, it must be acknowledged that Agnez Monica is also popular because of the songs created by Mas Ari Bias. But the songwriter's songs are also popular because of Agnez," Uya added.

2. Suggesting to Be a Team, Not to Conflict

Uya feels it is unfortunate if conflicts like this have to occur in the Indonesian music world. For him, songwriters and singers should be a team that strengthens each other, not conflict.

"Just be open-minded, just talk to each other. In the end, songwriters and singers also have to be a strong support system for one another," he explained.

He also compared this situation to the music industry abroad, where, according to him, such conflicts are less common. Uya believes that all parties involved surely have their own reasons.

"The point is I understand that everyone has their reasons for fighting. I can't say who is right or wrong, everyone must have their reasons," said Uya.

Furthermore, Uya mentioned the need for an overhaul of the royalty system in Indonesia. He believes that with a better system, conflicts between song creators and singers can be minimized.

"We also want the music industry in Indonesia to rise, and in my opinion, the system needs to be fixed. The system should ensure that the creators of these songs also receive appropriate rights or royalties," he stated.

Uya Kuya hopes that both parties can soon find common ground. He hopes this issue can be resolved quickly so that the Indonesian music industry can continue to grow. According to Uya, with good communication, there is no reason for prolonged conflict.

"So it should be communicated well. We all want Indonesian music to progress," he concluded.

The conflict began with a royalty claim for a song submitted by Ari Bias. According to him, Agnez Mo has not fully met her obligations regarding the royalties she should receive. This became the starting point of the dispute that is now widely discussed.
