Venna Melinda and Ferry Irawan Officially Divorced, Court States No Discussion of Joint Assets

Kapanlagi.com - The divorce of Venna Melinda and Ferry Irawan was officially decided by the South Jakarta Religious Court on Monday (2/12/2024). The ruling only covered the divorce petition without discussing the issue of joint assets. Suryana, the spokesperson for the South Jakarta Religious Court, explained that Venna's petition this time was a single petition.

"What I was informed is that this petition is a single petition for divorce only," said Suryana at the South Jakarta Religious Court (PA), Monday (2/12/2024).

According to Suryana, the law actually allows the disputing parties to file a joint asset petition. However, in this case, Venna did not file such a demand.

"The joint property lawsuit can be filed together with the divorce lawsuit or separately," he said.

Although not filed together, Suryana assured that the joint property lawsuit remains possible to be filed in the future.

"If the joint property is to be filed, it can be done anytime, after the divorce. The important thing is to be able to prove the existence of the joint property," he explained.

Suryana also emphasized that the main focus in this trial is to decide on the divorce.

2. Reviewing Evidence

"This lawsuit only covers the divorce, there are no other matters discussed. The panel of judges only reviews evidence related to the reasons for divorce," he said.

The main reason for the lawsuit is the alleged domestic violence (DV) which is the basis for Venna to separate. In this ruling, Ferry Irawan as the defendant was never present at the trial despite being officially summoned.

"The summons is valid, the summons is officially appropriate, both of them, yet he still did not attend," Suryana revealed.
