Venna Melinda has a firm view on her role as a parent, especially when her child starts getting close to the opposite sex. She admitted that she doesn't want to be a mother-in-law who interferes too much.

According to Venna, the choice of a partner is her child's full right, as long as it does not violate the life principles taught in the family. "As long as he is happy and his partner is good, I will support him. Because Verrell's match is not for me to choose," she asserted.
She also realizes that too much interference can make the relationship with her child distant. "I have seen many examples, mothers who are too dominant can actually push their children away. I don’t want to be like that," she said.
Venna emphasized that she will only provide input if it is indeed requested. "I believe Verrell knows what is best. But if he asks for my opinion, I will give it from a mother's perspective," she explained.
For Venna, her child's happiness is the top priority, not about who comes to be the son-in-law. "What matters is that he is happy, healthy, and his partner can also accept our family," she said.
She is also grateful that Verrell has grown into a very open person who values his parents' advice. "Verrell never hides anything. But like I said, I also don’t force him," she added.
Venna also refuses to label her child's partner. "For me, anyone who comes into the family should be welcomed warmly, no need for specific labels," she asserted.
