Viral Because of Joining Pride Parade, Kia AFI Reveals His Activities While in America & Dreams of Becoming a Broadway Actor

Not without reason, the man named Petrus Kia Suban uploaded a portrait of himself participating in the Pride Parade in America as a form of support for the LGBTQIA community (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning, Intersex, and Asexual/Ally).

Living in New York City, it turns out that Kia AFI has his own busy schedule. Instead of pursuing a career as a singer, he works as a teacher for Indonesian children who are part of the Indonesian Kids Performing Arts (IKPA).

"They are mostly aged 5-13 years old, born in America or born in Indonesia but raised here (America). I teach them to have a deeper understanding of Indonesia and be proud to be Indonesian. The Indonesian culture that I teach includes folklore or folk stories, regional and national songs, national history, regional dances, and others," Kia exclusively shared with KapanLagi.com® via Instagram DM.

1. Dream of Becoming a Broadway Actor

Not only that, currently Kia AFI is also pursuing a degree in art at the Theater of the Arts located at the University of the District of Columbia, Washington, D.C. Engaging in various performances on campus, it turns out Kia is pursuing his dream of becoming a Broadway actor.

"Of course, that's my dream to become an actor on Broadway. Please pray for me and wait for the show date," said Kia.

2. Other Activities

When asked further about his other activities, Kia admitted that he often performs in various events with his golden voice. Not only Indonesian events, he has also performed with Americans at prestigious venues.

"Thank God, I have performed several times in the 'Made In Indonesia' event in Silver Spring, Maryland. I performed at the KBRI and KJRI events in Washington D.C. and New York. I also participated in singing and dancing regional songs with Saung Budaya at the 'Dance Parade' in New York," said Kia.

"And it's not just Indonesian events. I have also performed at the Lincoln Theater and Concert Hall at the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts in Washington D.C. with native Americans. The latest one before the pandemic, I was entrusted to sing at the 'AIFD Symposium' event in Las Vegas," he added.

3. Release Song with Other AFI Friends

Last but not least, Kia AFI also expressed his longing for his friends from Akademi Fantasi Indosiar. However, he admitted that they still often communicate and even released a song together recently.

"Being together with them makes me miss them. Thank God we are still complete with the 12 friends who are still healthy until now. We just launched a new single titled Sahabat. Have you listened to it? Let your friends know too," he concluded.
