Seeing this, the children of the members of Warkop DKI who are part of the Dono Kasino Indro Coffee Shop Institution have made a public statement. As the owners of the intellectual property rights to Warkop DKI, Hanna Kusumaningsih and others feel unappreciated because commercialization is being done without permission.

Even when they communicated and were asked to stop appearing anywhere, Warkopi continued to do so. Seeing this phenomenon, Freddy Harris, the Director General of Intellectual Property Rights (HaKI), spoke out.

"We are studying everything and there needs to be enlightenment. As for the trademark, Uncle Indro and the late Uncle Dono and Uncle Kasino already have trademarks. If someone uses their trademark, they must obtain permission from the heirs and Uncle Indro who is still alive. Because Warkop DKI has been made a trademark, it cannot be done without permission," said Freddy as quoted by KapanLagi.com in a virtual press conference on Monday (27/9/2021).

Being accused of violation, Freddy Harris firmly stated that what Warkopi did was a form of violation. However, since the issue was not taken to the criminal realm, it was enough to stop its commercialization.

The latest development is that Warkopi and its management have deleted all the materials that have been created. This was done solely to respect the struggle of Warkop DKI.

"Actually, using that name is already a violation. If people watch Warkopi, they will assume it's the old Warkop. Seeing that Warkopi's management has taken down the video, it means they know that there is something wrong, which is the lack of permission from Warkop DKI," said Freedy.

"It's already settled now. If it were to be criminalized, it means it hasn't. Actually, this is simple, these three people just need to come and ask for permission. The most important thing is that the permission should be in writing because this copyright issue is related to economic value. If there is no economic value, it wouldn't be like this. Because there is economic value, we have to talk," he concluded.
