Weight Gain Postpartum, Vicky Shu Felt Insecure - Reluctant to Appear on TV

Behind her new slimmer appearance, Vicky Shu actually harbored deep feelings of insecurity. Gaining weight after giving birth to her children made this talented singer reluctant to appear in front of the television camera.

The singer's full name, Vicky Veranita Yudhasoka, admitted that feelings of insecurity haunted her for some time. This was triggered by discomfort with her own body shape when she had to be seen by the public through the screen.

"Clearly, I didn't want to go out on TV either. Because I felt that even now my weight has gone down, my upper body still looks big, especially on TV," said Vicky Shu when met in the Jalan Buncit Raya area, South Jakarta, Tuesday (05/05/2026).

Vicky recounts how some netizens gave negative responses when she started posting content. Various criticisms regarding her physical changes, which were considered drastic, often appeared in her comment section.

"More like 'Wow, you look really fat now', 'Wow, why are your cheeks so chubby', 'Wow, double chin'. Even when I was skinny, I already had a double chin," she said, sharing her bitter experience facing the backlash from netizens.

Her experience of often going through yo-yo dieting in the past has made her more cautious and unwilling to get trapped in the same pattern. For her, losing weight may be easy, but maintaining stability is the real challenge.

"I've often done yo-yo dieting, you know, going up and down. Losing weight is really easy, but when it comes to gaining it back, it can be a lot if I don't control myself again. It's exhausting like that," said the singer of the song Habis Manis Sepah Dibuang.

Facing that situation, Vicky Shu chose to completely overhaul her mindset. She began to learn to no longer follow her ego when it comes to food and switched to a more mindful eating pattern.

"Because it affects, like now because I’m keeping track of my food, when I want to eat a lot, it’s not like I don’t want to anymore. Whereas usually I’m greedy, for example, I really enjoy eating. The happiness of eating for me is eating, eating, eating rice, looking for sweet things, cake, all kinds of things. There has to be desserts like that," she candidly expressed.

Fortunately, her husband, Ade Imam Prabowo, always provides full support and never demands a certain physique from her. This family support is what strengthens Vicky to remain consistent in maintaining her mental and physical health.
