Zee Asadel Wears a Hijab in the Film 'KUPILIH JALUR LANGIT', Learning Patience and Sincerity

Talented young actress Azizi Shafa Asadel, or commonly known as Zee Asadel, returns to greet fans through the big screen. The 21-year-old girl has been cast as the lead in the romantic religious drama film titled KUPILIH JALUR LANGIT. Zee's appearance this time is quite special because she has to portray the character of a female student.

In this film produced by MD Pictures and Manara Films, Zee plays the character Amira, an intelligent woman who must face heavy trials in her household. This role demands Zee to present herself differently from her previous projects. She admits that this is her first experience wearing a hijab fully in a film.

"For the preparation of this film, we actually had a rather short time. But God willing, we have also tried our best for this film. This is honestly my first film where I wear a hijab," said Zee Asadel when met in the Kuningan area, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (15/4/2026).

Zee explained that the character Amira has a connection with her educational background in real life. Although she is not a graduate of a pesantren (Islamic boarding school), Zee has experienced education in an Islamic school. This has somewhat helped her in understanding the movements and attitudes of a santriwati (female student of a pesantren).

"I am very grateful to have received the role of Amira, which I think is a very interesting role where I can see a young person growing up as a santri. The comparison is there, so I feel that delving into the character itself is not that heavy," she explained.

In addition to the physical challenge of wearing a hijab, Zee also has to delve deeply into the emotions of the character Amira, who is depicted as grieving internally. Amira is portrayed as having to be patient in facing her husband's cold demeanor since their first night. Through this role, she learns many valuable lessons about the steadfastness of a wife.

"But what I realize is that, God willing, Allah gives tests to His servants that we can, God willing, overcome. That's why Amira is given such a test; God willing, she can get through it. So we just have to be sincere and patient," said Zee.

The main issue in this story is the marital conflict between Amira and Furqon. Amira feels neglected because her husband has not provided emotional support since they got married. This triggers deep emotional turmoil for Amira, who initially admired her husband greatly.

Amira (Zee Asadel) is an energetic student who is matched with Furqon (Emir Mahira), a beloved ustaz. Amira's happiness suddenly fades when Furqon does not touch her at all after they officially marry. Amira struggles to maintain her dignity and household amidst the secrets kept by Furqon. The film 'Kupilih Jalur Langit' is scheduled to premiere in all XXI cinema networks on April 23, 2026.
