Being Abandoned by Mother for 16 Years Motivates Evi Masamba to Change Her Fate and Become a Dangdut Singer

As a guest star on a show hosted by Nikita Mirzani recently, Evi talked about her initial motivation to participate in the dangdut singing talent competition.

Her audition moment was actually her first time setting foot in a big city. "There was a competition in Sulawesi that I participated in. A friend told me about it, but I wasn't confident. But I went to Makassar and that was the first time I set foot in a big city," Evi said as quoted from the show Nih Kita Kepo (5/2).

1. Prove It to My Mother

Evi Masamba's spirit to audition and change her fate for the better is growing stronger because of her determination to prove it to her mother. She revealed that she had been abandoned for 16 years by the woman who gave birth to her.

"My intention to participate in the competition is because I want to let my mother know that my sibling and I are doing well. Because my mother left me for 16 years, if I'm not mistaken," she explained.

Fortunately, Evi Masamba's strong determination and spirit yielded results and made her the champion in the dangdut singing competition. "Alhamdulillah, Allah has elevated Evi's status and allowed Evi to go to Jakarta and become the champion in the competition yesterday," said Evi.

2. Once Wanted to Quit

Evi Masamba faced difficulties in the early days of her entertainment career. She was targeted by mean comments from netizens. In fact, it made her want to quit being an artist.

"I once wanted to quit being an artist because of those netizens. But, alhamdulillah, I have a lot of supportive family and friends, so I continue on, and alhamdulillah, I'm still persevering until now," said Evi in Jakarta on Tuesday (4/2).
