"When I became a singer, I already had a car, paying installments of 1.7 million, but the car kept breaking down," said Boiyen when met in the Mampang area, South Jakarta, not long ago.
When she was still a dangdut singer, the owner of the full name Yeni Rahmawati admitted that she could perform 8 times a month. Although she was only paid Rp 70,000 per performance, Boiyen still dared to buy a car for work purposes.
"Yes, there are 6-8 jobs a month, to pay for the car installment but it often breaks down. The engine used to be heavy," said Boiyen.
In addition to the Rp 70,000 fee per performance, Boiyen also sets aside money from the tips given by the audience. However, all the tips are divided equally. "Yes, they are collected in a box. Later, they will be divided among the musicians. I am not allowed to take them myself," explained Boiyen.
The entertainment world has always been Boiyen's desire for his career. That's why, even though he's paid little, he still perseveres because he believes that there will be a way in the future if he tries.
"I don't just accept it. If this is my fortune, I can't complain because if I complain, I won't be given anymore. If you're grateful, the fortune will flow," he said.
Now, Boiyen's career shines even brighter since he became a comedian. But, Boiyen still doesn't forget his true self as a singer and is ready to release new work in the near future.
"Entering the comedy show, more and more people know me as a comedian. But I have a new song. It's called Goyang Gemoy," he concluded.
