This year, the competition led by Ridho Rhoma as the Executive Chair has gained international attention with participants from the United States and Australia also submitting their works.

Ridho Rhoma stated that by the second week of January, the committee had received several song entries from abroad, proving that LCLD is no longer just a national event, but also attracts the attention of dangdut lovers worldwide.

“There are participants who have submitted competition materials from the United States and Australia. This is proof that this time LCLD is not only national but also draws the attention of dangdut enthusiasts around the world,” Ridho stated.

According to Ridho, the popularity of dangdut abroad, especially among millennials and Generation Z, continues to increase. The dangdut community in countries like the United States and Australia is growing rapidly, particularly because this music is becoming more recognized through digital platforms and international music festivals.

One participant from Australia, Michael H.B. Raditya, shared his experience regarding his interest in participating in LCLD 2025. “I learned about LCLD from the PAMDI website and social media. Then, I submitted a song with social and cultural themes,” he said.

Michael admitted that he joined this event as a form of appreciation for dangdut music, which he often performs with his friends in Australia. He is even quite active in promoting dangdut at various music festival stages.

2. Popularize Dangdut

"Dangdut lovers in Australia come not only from Indonesian citizens, but also from local residents," said Michael.

This year's 6th LCLD event raises various themes, ranging from love, politics and nationalism, socio-culture, to religion. With cash prizes of hundreds of millions of rupiah and trophies, this competition not only serves as a platform to showcase creativity but also as a means to popularize dangdut on a global scale.

The song materials collected by the participants will later be judged by a panel of jurors who are musicians and arrangers from various genres. Selected songs will be performed by popular dangdut singers from the millennial generation, thus it is hoped that it can introduce the best works to a wider audience.

Currently, LCLD 6 is entering the stage of collecting song materials from participants. This process is open until January 31, 2025, giving songwriters from various parts of the world time to participate.

With the expanding reach of LCLD, Ridho Rhoma hopes this event will not only produce quality dangdut songs but also become an important moment in introducing dangdut as Indonesia's original music to the international stage.
