Kapanlagi.com - The alleged embezzlement case involving Leon Tada, the defendant in the report filed by singer Inul Daratista, has entered a new phase at the North Jakarta District Court. The Public Prosecutor (JPU) has read the indictment against Leon Tada with a sentence of two years and six months in prison.
Maryono, the spokesperson for the North Jakarta District Court, explained that the indictment has been officially presented in the hearing. “The indictment has been read, two years and six months. That is the demand from the Prosecutor,” he said when met at his office on Tuesday (26/11/2024).
After the reading of the indictment, Leon Tada was given the right to present his defense. The next hearing with that agenda is scheduled for next week.

"So, since the Prosecutor has read the indictment, the defendant is given the opportunity to present a defense. It will be scheduled for next week, on December 3rd," Maryono continued.
Maryono also added that if the defendant submits a written defense, the Public Prosecutor will be given the opportunity to respond. After that, the panel of judges will deliberate to determine the verdict.
"After that, it will be deliberated for the verdict," he explained.
When asked about the basis of the indictment, Maryono explained that the losses suffered by PT Vista Mitra Indonesia were one of the aggravating factors. "Clearly, the loss suffered by PT Vista Mitra Indonesia amounts to Rp136 million, the price of the car. That is what weighs heavily," he revealed.
However, Maryono also revealed factors that mitigate the demands against Leon Tada. "The mitigating factors are usually because the defendant is straightforward and so on, so he is charged with two years and six months," he said.
Regarding legal assistance, Maryono explained that in the indictment article, Leon Tada is not required to have legal counsel.
"Actually, the indictment article itself does not require accompaniment. But he can use legal counsel. The threat is five years, so it is not mandatory to be accompanied," he explained.
This case originated from a report by Inul Daratista regarding allegations of embezzlement that caused significant losses amounting to hundreds of millions.
