Who would have thought, Lesti's participation in this event was initially just looking for experience. Lesti saw the registration announcement and wanted to register.

"The first time, Dede participated in Dangdut Academy just wanted to gain experience. It's not just for fun, because Dede also wanted to participate in a talent search event that was made by a big TV station. At that time, Dede (saw) the ad was so small, a small template under the TV, right? (Said) to papa 'Dede wants to participate in this, is it okay to join D'Academy event?' because at that time Dede was still 13 years old," continued Lesti.

2. Full Support from Her Father

Seeing the desire of his daughter, Endang Mulyana, Lesti's father supported it. He took Lesti to get the form in Bandung.

"Register to Bandung to get the form at one of the radio stations there. If I'm not mistaken, those who are 17 years old and above can participate while Dede is only 13 (years old) and will be 14 (years old). Father said 'Let's go if Dede wants to gain experience, try it with Bismillah, maybe it's Dede's fortune, it belongs to Dede here,' like that," he continued.

3. Riding a motorcycle from Cianjur to Bandung

The struggle began. Lesti and her father rode a motorcycle from their home in southern Cianjur to Bandung. After staying in Bandung, her father was finally contacted by Indosiar early the next morning.

"Yes, we rode a motorcycle to Bandung, didn't bring any clothes. Dede only wore a yellow dress or yellow shirt, if I'm not mistaken. Because at that time, it wasn't directly judged by the artists, there were stages like that, the first room to pass or not, then the next room, the third room, and so on until the last one. They said, 'If you pass, you will be contacted at midnight', but Dede wasn't contacted. Dede stayed in Padalarang, Bandung at that time, then finally, if I'm not mistaken, my father was contacted at dawn," she said.

4. Costume Rental for Rp 50,000

Lesti even had to rent a costume because she only brought one outfit. The outfit was eventually purchased and still kept until now.

"Father said let's just rent it. Rent it from salons in Padalarang, then ended up in Pasteur because there are relatives in Pasteur, right? Dede used to live there with Father. So we wandered around there, there was a salon. We borrowed a purple costume for 50,000 rupiah at that time and Dede still keeps it until now. Then we rented (paid) 50,000 rupiah and immediately met celebrity judges," she concluded.
