Impacted by the Pandemic, Singer Desy Thata Sells Motorcycle and Gets Evicted from Rental House

Kapanlagi.com - Desy Thata, a dangdut singer from Wonosobo, is one of the artists who have felt the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. Her previously abundant singing schedule completely disappeared during the pandemic.

To meet her living needs, Desy had no choice but to sell some of her assets, including two motorcycles and her stage costumes.

"I had to sell my motorcycles and stage costumes," said Desy Thata in Jakarta on Tuesday (19/1/2021).

1. Feeling Stressed

Desy admitted that the money she earned from selling motorcycles and stage costumes did not last long because the pandemic shows no signs of ending. She also experienced pain when she was evicted from her rented house because she couldn't afford to pay.

"I was really stressed and confused about how to make money, because I can only sing. I was even evicted because I couldn't afford the rent," she said.

Continuously burdened by economic problems, Desy finally chose to set aside her pride and shame by selling aci meatballs and Thai tea on the roadside, near her parents' place.

"I was mocked by friends. But I don't care, because it's a halal job," she said.

Desy Thata's patience finally paid off. In early 2021, Desy was invited back to Jakarta to be a guest star on several television stations.

3. Starting to Have a Job

Not only being a singer, Desy Thata was given the opportunity to expand her career as a comedian and presenter on several television programs.

Sudden luck that came when she was struggling to survive made her believe that where there is a will, there is a way.

"Alhamdulillah, if we believe and be patient, then Allah will provide a way. Hopefully, everyone affected by Covid-19 always stays motivated and patient," she said.
