Judge Disappointed Lucinta Luna Did Not Attend the Trial

Kapanlagi.com - The Public Prosecutor (JPU) canceled the direct appearance of the defendant Lucinta Luna in the West Jakarta District Court on Wednesday (29/7/2020). This is due to the regulations of the Directorate General of Prisons regarding the prevention of Covid-19.

"Cannot be physically present because of the noble Covid," explained one of the Public Prosecutors to the Judge in the courtroom.

As a result, in the trial scheduled for the examination of the defendant, the JPU only physically presented one of the police officers who arrested Lucinta Luna.     
Meanwhile, Lucinta Luna followed the proceedings of the trial from the Pondok Bambu Detention Center in East Jakarta through teleconference.  

1. Not Acknowledging Ecstasy

Seeing that reality, the Panel of Judges led by Eko Aryanto S.H, M.H, appeared disappointed. Because, the teleconference trial was considered less than optimal. Initially, the Panel of Judges intended to ask the Public Prosecutor to bring Lucinta Luna directly, because they wanted to confront Lucinta Luna's statement with the police who arrested her.

So far, Lucinta Luna still insists on not acknowledging the possession of ecstasy found by the police in the trash can at her residence. Even, Lucinta Luna said there was an element of coercion to admit when she was questioned by the police.  

2. Trial Postponed

To reveal the truth and uphold justice, the Panel of Judges granted Lucinta Luna's lawyer's request to bring a mitigating witness, namely Lucinta Luna's house assistant, in the next week's trial.  

"Today's trial is postponed and will continue on Wednesday, August 5, 2020, with the agenda of hearing the testimony of the mitigating witness proposed by the defendant's legal counsel," said Eko Aryanto.

3. Lucinta Luna Case

As known, Lucinta Luna was arrested in her apartment and declared a suspect of drug abuse by the West Jakarta Metro Police Narcotics Unit on February 11th. From the arrest, the police confiscated 2 ecstasy pills and 7 riklona pills.

In the indictment hearing, Lucinta Luna was charged with Article 112 paragraph (1) or Article 127 paragraph (1) of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 of 2009 regarding narcotics and Article 60 paragraph (3) or Article 62 of Law Number 5 of 1997 regarding psychotropics.
