Lesti Kejora Reported to Polda Metro Jaya Regarding Allegations of Copyright Violation

Kapanlagi.com - The name of the dangdut singer Lesti Kejora is currently in the spotlight after being reported for alleged copyright infringement. The report was received by Polda Metro Jaya on May 18, 2025.

The reporting party is a songwriter with the initials YM alias YD who feels that his work has been used without permission. The report was submitted to the police through his legal representative with the initials IS.

"We confirm that on May 18, we received a criminal report related to intellectual property or in this case a copyright crime," said the Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Ade Ary Syam Indradi, at his office on Tuesday (20/5/2025).

In the report, Lesti Kejora is alleged to have uploaded and performed several songs belonging to YD since 2018 without official permission. This has become the basis for the report that is now being handled by the police.

"The complainant is brother IS, the victim is brother YM alias YD, a songwriter, and the reported party is Sister LK," added Ade Ary.

1. Evidence

According to the reporter, Lesti has covered several of her songs and distributed them on various digital platforms. She also claims to have legal rights over those songs.

"LK (Lesti Kejora) uploaded the song to several online media platforms like YouTube without the knowledge and consent of the victim," he continued.

In his report, YD also submitted several pieces of evidence to the police. These pieces of evidence are believed to support the ongoing investigation.

"As the reporter, YD submitted evidence in the form of a flash drive, copyright certificate for the song, and screenshot photos," said Ade Ary.

2. In the Initial Stage of Investigation

This case is currently still in the initial stage of investigation, and the police are deepening the material of the report. There has been no determination of suspects or summons of witnesses.

"So we have received the report and the team is still conducting an in-depth investigation," he said.

If found guilty, Lesti Kejora could face charges under Article 113 Juncto Article 9 of Law Number 28 of 2014 concerning Copyright. The punishment carries a significant criminal penalty and fine.

"The title of the song is still being investigated. At this initial stage, we confirm that we have received reports on who the reporter is, who the victim is, who is being reported, and what incident is being reported," concluded Ade Ary.
